Trevin Kelly - BFA with a Major in Photography - Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Vancouver British Columbia, Canada

I work primarily with a Hasselblad T500 using a 80mm Zeiss lens. I love the interactions that come through working with people, portraits are my favorite type of photography and I think film photography truly enhances the viewers experience in what a photograph can be. I do also work digitally as well as 35mm film.

I was extremely lucky to go to a high school that had a profound art history and photography teacher, Jeffrey Martz. He had grown the art and photography programs at the school and expanded the space to include a fully functioning darkroom. He along with a close friend of mine, Simon Bermeo- Ehmann, inspired me to start pursuing film photography.

I went to Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. There I studied photography, obtaining my BFA with a major in photography.

I also work with recycled skateboards, creating mostly wall art out of them. Itโ€™s a laborious process - the hardest part of which is accumulating the skateboards. In the end its very rewarding for a number of reasons, but personally the best is a board that would have gone to a landfill is now part of a finished piece of art.
